Come Together: An Evening with Katelyn James and Amy & Jordan Demos

This evening was magical! Filled with laughter and tears. So much heart was poured into educating the the roughly 110 eager attendees. So much love was shown! I cannot forget!
I arrived at Stevenson Ridge at 4pm on the dot and was greeted by the wonderful Michael Alsop. He gave me a name badge and a ticket for wine!
I followed the sound of the laughter and excitement and entered the room where everyone was excitedly chatting with someone they knew or meeting someone new for the first time. My gaze fell on a corner of the room decorated with chairs and cocktail tables adorned with fresh arrangements of flowers where Katelyn James was surrounded by a group of giggly girls. I say “giggly girls” because it seemed like they had known each other for a long time, but in fact, these ladies were meeting Katelyn for the very first time. I wanted to say “hello”, but waited a bit until the crowd, hesitantly, dispersed allowing room for other “giggly girls” to have a chance at meeting the amazing Katelyn James.
When it came time for me to say “hello”, I actually don’t remember what I said. All I remember is a big warm hug from Katelyn and me brushing my hair to the side in quick nervous strokes. THIS girl is my role-model in this business. I had waited to meet THIS girl ever since she announced the Come Together event. A few minutes later, I met Amy and Jordan. WHAT a delight!!! This couple just radiates love! There was a single person who didn’t laugh out loud while giving them a hug and talking to them briefly. They felt like old friends you hadn’t seen since high school.
And so the evening began…
Five lessons I learned from Katelyn and Amy & Jordan:
- My business is not the same as someone else’s because everyone is at a different place in their business. All I can do is work hard and thrive in what I do! Everyone will face different challenges, but challenges none the less. It is important to keep moving in the face of difficulties and say NO to Comparison!
- Social media is my friend if I know how to use it properly. The more I learn about it, the more I will benefit from it. Remember: Word of Mouth is the most important form of advertizement!
- There is no need to pay for subscription based advertizing if I am a faithful blogger and blogging about topics that are true to my heart and true to the purpose of my business.
- Ask myself: what is the purpose of my business? Focus on more than just the number of weddings I am bookings. What is the real reason behind everything that I do or want to do for my clients?
- LOVE on my clients! LOVE them and show them that I appreciate them. Build a connection with them and perhaps a life-long friendship might develop.
My heart was so full at the end of the day with so much joy and knowledge that I acquired from these beautiful presenters. I am so thankful that the Lord made it possible for me to attend this event and thankful for all the organizers who put it together for people just like me who are so thirsty for knowledge. When I left Stevenson Ridge at the end of the day, I was more excited than I was coming in just a few hours earlier. I was filled with hope and inspiration that Katelyn and Amy & Jordan imparted! Thank you, guys, for all the love you showed every single one of us. Can’t wait for our next get together!
