To my Magic Makers in pursuit of success!
It’s been on my heart for a long time to share a few words with you and encourage you-and be extension-myself.
I’ve been in this business for almost five years, and in those years, I have learned a few things that I would like to share with you if you’ve just started your business or you’ve been in business of years mainly because we all need a word of encouragement to keep going. Because we need a reminder that our business, just like life, has its ups and downs, and it’s important to keep going through it all. I know I needed encouragement when I doubted myself time and time again. I still do on a regular basis! So here it is:
In Pursuit of Success-
-Pray! At every step, say a little prayer. There is so much power in prayer. God is never too far away from any one of us. Say a little prayer. Make it a lifestyle!
-Don’t lose yourself. Know who you are and be true to the original goal with which your started your business. I once told my sweet friend Judy exactly why I started my business. And a few years later when I was down, I got a message from her in which she recounted what I had shared with her. It was as if God had planned it! I so needed to hear those words. I needed to hear MY words from HER and remind myself of the REAL reason I started this business.
-Yes. This is a business. You have to have a business mindset to run it successfully, but also remember that your passion is what started it all. Don’t lose sight of that passion.
-Look at the amazing work that your peers’ amazing work, but don’t be discouraged if you are not at their level yet. I bet you they, too, doubted themselves, and still might at times, when they first started. Look. Read. Educate yourselves. Learn. and Move on!
-Take risks. Get out of your comfort zone and do something different. It could be anything. It all depends on what you consider your comfort circle. Focus on it. and then take just one step outside of it. You will be so glad you did.
-Communicate-with your peers, your mentor (get one if you don’t have one and think you need one), keeping learning about your art, and communicate with others around you. It is amazing the amount of information and education that is available to you. Take advantage of it. Communicate about your concerns. Ask questions. There will be someone who will say exactly what you needed to hear.
-I’ve heard that if there isn’t a little fire burning under you to keep you up and running, you are getting too comfortable. DON’T get too comfortable because, I believe, that’s when you stop improving.
-LOVE your work! LOVE it the way that it is RIGHT NOW! SHARE IT! BE PROUD OF IT! The need for improvement doesn’t devalue your work at its current level. LOVE it just the way it is. Just like a child it will grow overtime.
In Pursuit of Success, don’t forget to discover yourself. You are what makes up your business. Who are you? The answer to that question will have a ripple effect that will touch every part of your life including your business.
Be well, and keep making magic happen!
