Welcome back to the blog, Friends!
I am excited to share with you about the “veil or no veil” conundrum you may be facing. This blog is very special to me because I’ve asked three of my sweet brides to share their thoughts with me about the reason they chose to wear a veil on their wedding day. All three of these brides are like family to me-Diana is my cousin by marriage. She is married to an incredible man, Justin, who is the light of her world. Logan is like my little sister. I’ve known Logan for many years. She is married to Danny who is like my little brother. My little brother Brian and Danny went to school together, spent many summers, birthdays, Christmases, and other celebrations together with my family. Danny was an usher at my wedding. When I say they are family, I really mean that! In fact, my little brother was Danny’s best man at the wedding and I was over the moon excited to be the photographer for this beautiful couple and family. Nicole is my former student and maid of honor and sister of my beautiful bride Erica. When she asked me to be the photographer for her wedding as well, I was so excited because I was going to see all of her family and spend another celebration with them. I love these beautiful souls so very much! If you are like me, you are LOVING Diana and Logan’s dresses. Diana’s Dress is an
Oleg Cassini Gown from David’s Bridal, and Logan and Nicole’s dresses are from
Ava Laureen Bride located in the heart of Downtown Fredericksburg, VA. Check out a few more shots of Diana’s dress at a blog I wrote about their
first look. Want to see how adorable this couple is? Check out the
blog on their first look that Jennifer Milato Photography and I did from two different angles. Okay! Back to our chat about veils!
First up is Diana.
I asked Diana to share with me why she chose to wear a veil on her wedding day and here is what she says:
I really wanted to have a veil to keep that traditional part of a wedding. We wanted a more traditional wedding and the veil was definitely part of making it more traditional. The veil was more modern looking, but it had elements of a traditional veil like lace. Plus, [it] added dramatic flair to my whimsical dress so it was a perfect compliment. I also really wanted to feel “like a bride” and the veil helped me feel that way and stand out from everyone else. The veil was definitely modern meets traditional, which was the goal for our wedding. Keep tradition but not be dated.
Diana was a gorgeous bride indeed! Here are some photos of her with family helping with her get ready the first of two ceremonies on her wedding day. Diana and Justin had two ceremonies according to the Jewish faith.
Next up is the sweetest bride on the planet earth: Logan!
She and Danny are like two stars who shine the brightest in the sky! We just love these two so so much! I asked Logan to share with me a little about her decision to wear a veil, and she got back to me immediately with this response and I just love it so much!
I wasn’t sure I wanted one, but when I tried one on with my dress at the store, it made me feel complete as a bride. It’s what I’d imagined since I was little and seeing it all come together made it feel real. My grandmother offered to pay for my veil; and so beyond looks, it was taking her down the isle with me that day. I went with the cathedral veil and felt magical.
Magical! If that doesn’t describe Logan, I don’t know what does! Enjoy a few photograph from her BIG day with Danny! You can’t tell, but it was pouring that day! But their photos came out SO beautiful thanks to this wrap around porch at their venue
Oak Creek Farm in Orange, Virginia.
Next up is my beautiful bride Nicole. Here’s what she had to say:
I chose to wear a veil because aside from it being tradition, for me it was my something borrowed. It was special to me because I got to wear the veil that my best friend wore at her wedding.
Okay! I love this reason so much because my veil at my wedding was my something borrowed from my sister-in-law, my husband’s youngest sister. It was so special to me. so I can totally relate to Nicole on this one.Check out a few photos of the beautiful Nicole on her wedding day to Tony!
I hope you enjoyed the perspective of these three beautiful brides. I’d love to know your thoughts about your vision for your wedding! Veil or no veil? Which are you going to go with with!
Sending you a big hug,
Nilo
