I am Nilo. Welcome to my blog. I am a wedding & portrait photographer serving couples in Fredericksburg, VA and
all over VA, DC, and Maryland. This blog is where I get a chance to love on my couples, show off my family, share my love of all things life coaching, teaching, and podcasting!
For my sweet brides, I've got free resources, tips and tricks, as well as vendor resources to help you plan your wedding day. Simply click on the ADVICE FOR THE BRIDE category to see it all. I am thankful you are here. Stay awhile and reach out to me with any questions at all!
I really wanted to have a veil to keep that traditional part of a wedding. We wanted a more traditional wedding and the veil was definitely part of making it more traditional. The veil was more modern looking, but it had elements of a traditional veil like lace. Plus, [it] added dramatic flair to my whimsical dress so it was a perfect compliment. I also really wanted to feel “like a bride” and the veil helped me feel that way and stand out from everyone else. The veil was definitely modern meets traditional, which was the goal for our wedding. Keep tradition but not be dated.
I wasn’t sure I wanted one, but when I tried one on with my dress at the store, it made me feel complete as a bride. It’s what I’d imagined since I was little and seeing it all come together made it feel real. My grandmother offered to pay for my veil; and so beyond looks, it was taking her down the isle with me that day. I went with the cathedral veil and felt magical.
I chose to wear a veil because aside from it being tradition, for me it was my something borrowed. It was special to me because I got to wear the veil that my best friend wore at her wedding.
